For Autumn 2022, ITV are running one of their biggest competitions to date. In fact, there’s only been two bigger ones – one with a prize of a million pounds back in 2015 and more recently last year in 2021 where the winner had the chance to win £10,000 a month for ten years, or £1,000,000 in one go – they chose the latter.
This time, there’s £500,000 in cash up for grabs, but there’s a twist compared to the normal competition format on ITV’s shows. Let’s try to explain it as clearly as we can!
ITV run a huge number of competitions each year, with their website showing at the time of writing (September 2022) that they’ve given away well over seven million pounds in cash in the last twelve months.
Winners are contacted by ITV in line with their competition terms and conditions, which usually means up to five weeks after the competition closes.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a competition grab the attention of so many people quite like this ITV competition has done, since it launched on GMB back in May 2020. It’s grown into something that you even hear people talking about when you’re out and about, laughing about the surprise in a winner’s voice, or why so many people fail to answer the phone.
Free Cash Friday runs on Good Morning Britain between 8.15am and 9.00am on Fridays when the competition is run, and between 9.30am and 10.00am on Lorraine Kelly’s show.
As Free Cash Friday takes a well deserved break, there’s no rest for Andi Peters as he’ll be heading off around the UK to Wake Up A Winner with a £3,000 prize on Thursday 9th September and Friday 10th September 2021!

It’s something that we’ve almost done several times before as the answer is quite simple, but still we get questioned about it!
There’s been an odd trend over the last few years with ads on TV suggesting that you search for them rather than go directly to their website. ITV themselves have now got in on the act, so rather than saying go to itv.com/win to enter their latest competitions, they say Search ITV Win instead.

When you make a lot of your money from selling advertising, as commercial TV stations do, it seems a bit odd to be telling people to go to Google or Bing first and search for them there instead.
There is a reason this happens though, and it’s not what you might think!

One of the big problems is that the internet lend itself well to something called clickbait – you’ll see a lot of it at the bottom of articles on less reputable websites, and even on tabloid newspaper sites too.
The reason it’s rampant on the web is that everyone’s fighting for your attention, and we’re all drawn (by definition) to clickbait style headlines. Usually they’ll be shocking, or make outlandish claims in the headlines, but when you actually read the story, it’s far less incredible than it’s made to sound.
